Payton has been involved in dance for over 19 years. She is trained in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz, Open, Tap, and High Kick for genres in dance. 

 

As a dancer Payton has trained at On Stage School of Dance (2001-2014), Buffalo Bison Dance Team (2013-2018), Jeté Dance Centre (2014-2017), and Millennium Dance Company (2017-2018). At both Jeté and Millennium she received national titles in the group pieces she participated in.

 

Outside of being involved in studio dance, Payton had the privilege of being a Varsity Team member and Team Captain for the Buffalo Dance Team. During her time on BDT she was awarded Honorable Mention, All Conference, and Academic awards. It was through dance team that she truly found her passion for dance and learned to give 110% in all that she does. 

 

Following High School Payton coached for the Buffalo Dance Team from 2018-2021 as a Winter Assistant Coach, Summer Instructor, and Fall Head Coach. As a coach she helped lead the JV program to two first place finishes in Jazz during 2019, and 2021. Currently, Payton is coaching at Holy Family as a JV Head Coach, and most recently was offered a position with New Prague as our Fall Assistant Coach. 

 

Outside of coaching she is a senior at Minnesota State University, Mankato where she is pursuing a degree in Dance with an emphasis in Private Studio Teaching and a minor in Marketing. Payton also enjoys running half marathons, waterskiing, and reading in her free time!

 

Payton looks forward to her first season with NPDT and can’t wait to see how far the team will go!
